Based on LEM’s high-performance ASIC, LEM has developed a digital ASIC with an on-board second-order Sigma-Delta modulator. The improved ASIC has been implemented in select LEM open-loop transducers to provide a digital output. The Sigma-Delta output is a bit stream where the density of 1s correlates to the amount and direction of primary current that is measured.
