In the past product reliability was a major issue in that custom technologies could often not match the reliability of standard, off the shelf technologies. Thanks to technological advancements this is no longer the case. If the customer finds the right supplier, with the right tools, that supplier can deliver custom products with a failure rate of less than fifty to one hundred parts per million.
