The LIN bus is a low-cost serial communication protocol used in automotive networks to reduce and simplify a vehicle’s wiring architecture. It is a slow 20 kilo bits per second (kbit/s) bus, meaning it can not be used in external safety related applications that require a fast response. For this reason, most LIN applications will be relegated to inside cabin ‘function’ and ‘comfort’ related applications.
