Panasonic’s Wide FOV sensor can be used in the same type of applications as the existing passive infrared sensors. The "approach-sensing" detection may be extremely valuable in some security applications, such as a video doorbell. Also, if automatic lighting control is necessary in hallways, the wide field of view sensor should have some added value in providing greater coverage.
