To perform the sound localization algorithm it is also mandatory to use at least two mics. That enables a selectivity of 180°. In order to achieve 360°, four mics are required. Two algorithms are available. Selecting one or the other depends on the distance of the mics. XCORR supports distance in the range of centimeters while GCC-PHAT supports in the range of millimeters.
