This architecture, like the previous slide, is also group isolated but the mux is located before the ADC. Because It can be connected to inputs ranging from 10 mV for bridge transducers up to 10 V inputs from other field devices, a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) is needed to translate the signal to a range that the ADC can measure accurately. This topology allows a wide dynamic range.
