Duty cycle is a key component to power consumption. A large duty cycle will result in a slower response time, and therefore decreasing power consumption. As shown here, if the user were to sample at 2 Hz, the average power consumption would be ~1.3 µA. For 99% of the measurement time, the device is in low power mode allowing the CPU to be used for other tasks.
