As can be seen, TI has a lot of experience in connectivity and building these combination ICs. They started with embedded Wi-Fi products in 2005 and are now on their eighth generation of WiLink and third generation of SimpleLink. WiLink products are mostly used with microprocessors and high level operating systems, but can also be supported with microcontrollers and real time operating systems.
