Stopping a signal can be performed by pressing the HOLD button. This captures an incoming signal and holds it until it is no longer needed. Various applications make this an invaluable feature. If the meter cannot be seen due to a cramped work space, it can capture the reading by pressing the HOLD button and viewing the reading later. RECORD does the MIN/MAX, but not the middle range.
