This slide shows an example of how an Equalizer device can be used. The 6.25 Gbps signal goes through 15 inches of FR4 backplane and the first reading is taken right after the backplane which is shown in the left image. Then the signal traverses the 7V219M Equalizer and another reading is taken at the output of the equalizer device which is shown on the right image. It is obvious that the eye diagram is much clearer and wider after the equalizer device than before.
