Several mechanical methods exist for attaching heatsinks. Wire clips, threaded stand offs, and push pins are all compatible with phase change material and offer excellent thermal and mechanical performance. Thermal tape and epoxy are low cost solutions, however, the ability to rework components may be eliminated.
