The signal in the Q path is shifted 90 degrees through the hybrid so that the IF signal from the UI is opposite in phase to the IF signal from the RF component. If designers compare this result with the previous slide, they see that when the signals from the I and Q paths are added that the IF from the RF signals will add constructively and that the IF signals from the UI will cancel each other out.
