It is important to know the upper working temperature of the device. All TIMs have a maximum safe working temperature and use of the materials for prolonged periods above this temperature can result in catastrophic failure. Generally non-silicone gap fillers have a slightly lower upper working temperature and this must be taken into consideration during the design process.
