An optional PMBus interface is available. This bus is based on I²C, but has an additional line for warnings, SMBALERT#, in addition to the clock and data lines. PMBus is an industry standard interface which can allow communication between the system host and the power supplies. It can work with AC/DC power supplies, POLs (point of load) DC/DC converters, and microprocessor power converters.
