The second function of an ambient light sensor is to have sensitivity to light that is similar to the human eye. The human eye’s relative sensitivity peaks at around 550 nm to 560 nm. The Visible Continuous Spectrum shown illustrates the perceived brightness partially to scale. Ambient light sensors try to match this relative sensitivity curve.
