Reflow profiles can vary considerably based on the type of assembly being manufactured. Consumer electronics such as handheld devices typically use a shorter linear type reflow profile as illustrated with the red line in the graph on this slide. Industrial electronics frequently involve manufacturing larger boards with significant thermal mass, and require a longer soak type of profile as shown with the green line. These longer harsh type reflow profiles can often cause soldering defects. GC 10 has been developed to accommodate a very wide reflow processing window.
